Starting in 1973, he has written more than 180 film screenplays, which earned him more than 70 trophies from various award-giving bodies, including three life achievement awards from the Cinemanila International Film Festival, the Gawad Urian, and the PMPC.
Bobby Garcia founded Atlantis Productions (now Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group) back in 1998 so he could mount the first Philippine production of Jonathan Larson's Rent.
